Heidi Swapp: Tips and Tricks for my Chipboard
![]() Chipboard has become a Scrapbooking staple! It comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles; but in my opinion, the coolest thing about chipboard is its versatility! Teaching people to see it for its possibilities is so much fun! Here are some ways that will inspire and empower any scrapbooker! These simple techniques can be performed on any chipboard and can totally expand the possibilities and outcome of any project!
1. Painting - Of course chipboard comes in most every color imaginable, but as consumers, don’t be limited to the colors the manufacturers give you. You can very quickly and easily change the color to match your unique project!
![]() 2. Stamping – Embellishing a letter with foam stamps is a perfect addition, especially if the paint is already out! Add just a little bit of acrylic paint to the foam stamp itself, and give a whole new face to just about anything!
![]() 3. Sanding – Admittedly, I can’t stop until everything has distressed edges! My sandpaper has the perfect grit and rigidity to use on scrapbook embellishments. After your painted chipboard is dry, run a bit of sandpaper over the edges, I love this look!
![]() 4. Cutting – Remember: You can alter the size and shape of any chipboard piece to suit your needs! Simply score the chipboard with a trimmer, or even a circle cutter… and then bend back the cut and finish quickly with a paper knife or scissors. Rounded corners are such a fun touch as well: simply score with a corner rounder, and finish off with scissors.
![]() 5. Coverings – adhere any paper over the chipboard for a unique look! Brush on a little PVA or other liquid glue and brayer it down. Use a paper knife to cut out the letter portion.
